Triskele the Three-Legged Deer: An update on her adventures.

Surfside residents have grown fond of a unique and resilient visitor: a young deer with a broken leg, affectionately named Triskele. Triskele, named after the ancient symbol representing progress and personal growth, has become a symbol of survival and adaptability in the neighborhood. Alongside her healthy twin, Triskele has been spotted roaming the area, showing remarkable signs of adjustment despite her injury.

A Daily Visitor

Triskele and her twin have made Surfside their frequent stopping point, and today they’ve been around for a little over three hours. The larger twin remains close by, providing a comforting presence. Triskele, identifiable by her broken leg, does not let her injury define her. She is frequently seen standing, laying down, walking, and foraging—actions that are a testament to her resilience. Her ability to move around and eat plentifully indicates that she is doing just fine, adapting well to her circumstances.

Adapting to Her New Life

Candace Carteen, a resident observing Triskele, remarked that it has been an enlightening. She writes  “I’ve watched her stand up, lay down, walk around, and eat a lot and she seems to be doing just fine. In fact it’s interesting when she lays down because the one broken leg is kind of angled when she puts her first leg down she’s able to use the second leg to help her the rest of the way down. So she’s learning how to adapt to her new life”.

This testament shows her remarkable ability to learn and adapt to her new way of life. Witnessing her ingenuity and determination is truly inspiring and serves as a powerful reminder of the adaptability of nature.

A Mother’s Watchful Eye

Triskele’s mother plays a significant role in her daily routine.  Her calm demeanor suggests a level of comfort and assurance, knowing that her young ones, including Triskele, are safe and adapting well to their environment.

A Symbol of Hope

Triskele’s journey is a heartwarming story that resonates with many in Surfside. Her presence is a constant reminder of the resilience of wildlife and the capacity to adapt in the face of adversity. As Triskele continues to roam the neighborhood, she brings with her a message of hope and the reminder that even in challenging times, life finds a way to thrive. It also serves as a gentle reminder that we share our environment with these beautiful creatures and should work to protect the ecosystem they call home.
