The beloved Ilwaco Slow Drag returns to the Port of Ilwaco on Friday, September 5, 2025, for an unforgettable evening of classic cars, community cheer, and slow-motion thrills. Unlike traditional drag races, this quirky contest rewards drivers for going the slowest — without stalling.

The fun begins with practice runs from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by the official start at 5:00 PM. Drivers in vintage and classic street-legal cars accelerate to around 20 MPH, shift into neutral, and coast.

The one which coasts best to the finish line advances to the next round;

Held along Howerton Way, the waterfront road at the Port of Ilwaco, the event draws crowds of spectators who line the blocked-off street with lawn chairs and cheer on the creative vehicles and local characters. Admission is free, and food vendors will be on hand selling hot dogs, kettle corn, and snow cones.
