Chowder, Community, and Compassion Come Together in Ocean Park

On Saturday, March 28th, the heart of Ocean Park will be filled with warmth, flavor, and purpose as neighbors gather for a special Chowder Cook-Off & Dessert Sale at the historic Oysterville School House.

From noon to 2 PM, locals and visitors alike are invited to sample a variety of homemade chowders and sweet treats—all for just $5 to taste every entry. Whether you’re a fan of creamy clam chowder, bold seafood blends, or irresistible baked desserts, this event promises something for everyone.

But this isn’t just about great food—it’s about coming together as a community for a meaningful cause.

All proceeds will support the Peninsula Suicide Education Alliance, an organization dedicated to raising awareness, providing education, and supporting mental health initiatives across the peninsula. In addition to the cook-off, attendees will have the opportunity to view a Memorial Quilt on display, honoring lives touched by suicide and reminding us of the importance of compassion, connection, and conversation.

Held at the charming Oysterville School House (3322 School Rd, Ocean Park, WA), the event blends small-town charm with a powerful mission—bringing people together not just to enjoy food, but to support one another.

Events like this highlight what makes the Long Beach Peninsula so special: neighbors helping neighbors, sharing stories, and showing up for causes that matter.

So grab a spoon, bring your sweet tooth, and join in. Because sometimes the simplest gatherings—a bowl of chowder, a slice of cake, a shared moment—can make the biggest difference.
