Castaway’s Seafood Grille Brings Fresh Coastal Dining to Long Beach
Castaway’s Seafood Grille offers an extensive menu of fresh seafood, steaks, burgers, salads and American comfort food in the heart of Long Beach, Washington.
The restaurant occupies a historic location connected to the former Pacific Hotel and the era of the Clamshell Railroad. Today, Castaway’s combines that local history with a lively, family-friendly atmosphere and a menu inspired by the Pacific Ocean and Willapa Bay.
Fresh oysters and local shellfish
Willapa Bay oysters are among the menu’s signature attractions. Guests can enjoy them raw on the half shell, as oyster shooters or fried and served with lemon and a choice of tartar or cocktail sauce.
The steamer clams feature a full pound of local Manila clams prepared with white wine, butter, garlic, herbs, bacon, onions and celery. They are accompanied by a grilled baguette for soaking up the flavorful broth.
Other shareable seafood dishes include hand-battered calamari, coconut shrimp, seared scallops, crab cakes, cheesy crab bread and crispy shrimp with a creamy sweet-and-spicy sauce.
Award-winning clam chowder
Castaway’s is especially proud of its scratch-made clam chowder, which has received recognition at the local Clam Festival.
The hearty chowder combines select clams with cream, butter, bacon, potatoes, onions, celery and the restaurant’s blend of herbs and spices. It is available by the cup, bowl or in a sourdough bread bowl. Guests may also purchase a larger container to take home.
Fish and chips and seafood baskets
The fry-basket menu offers several coastal favorites served with fries and coleslaw.
Castaway’s famous fish and chips features house-made beer-battered Pacific cod. Guests can also select Alaskan halibut and chips, fried Willapa Bay oysters, clam strips, fried prawns or chicken tenders.
For those who want to sample several kinds of seafood, the Captain’s Plate brings together battered cod, prawns, calamari and clam strips with cocktail and tartar sauces.
Seafood entrées
The dinner menu includes both familiar favorites and more elaborate seafood dishes.
Cioppino combines Pacific salmon, Dungeness crab legs, prawns, cod, local Manila clams and mussels in an Italian-style tomato and seafood broth.
Seafood lasagna layers lobster, shrimp and cod with ricotta, Alfredo sauce and Parmesan. Another pasta selection combines salmon, prawns, clams, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes with linguine and a lemon cream sauce.
Additional entrées include steamer-clam linguine, grilled Alaskan halibut with white wine and caper sauce, grilled Pacific salmon, seared ahi tuna and a crab-cake dinner.
Burgers, sandwiches and tacos
The menu extends well beyond traditional seafood platters. Burger selections include a classic Angus burger, a Western-style burger with barbecue sauce and an onion ring, and a mushroom-and-Swiss combination.
Seafood sandwiches include a Cajun salmon burger, Alaskan halibut po’ boy and fresh crab melt served on Texas toast. A French dip provides a traditional roast-beef alternative.
Island tacos can be ordered with blackened cod or seared ahi tuna. They are topped with cabbage, pineapple pico, chipotle aioli and cilantro-lime sauce.
A black-bean patty is available as an alternative on the burger menu.
Steaks and additional entrées
Guests looking for something other than seafood can choose from grilled top sirloin, ribeye with romesco sauce and Chicken Dijon.
Castaway’s also offers slow-cooked prime rib on selected days. Daily specials change with availability and may provide additional seafood, steak or seasonal choices.
Salads and lighter selections
Salad choices include traditional house, Caesar and wedge salads, along with several entrée-sized combinations.
The shrimp Louie includes bay shrimp, egg, tomatoes, olives and cucumber. The spinach salad combines apples, local dried cranberries, candied pecans, blue cheese and bacon with raspberry vinaigrette.
Other choices include a chicken-and-strawberry salad and a seared-ahi salad with mango, avocado, edamame, cucumber and Asian sesame dressing.
Guests can customize certain salads with chicken, salmon, shrimp or crab.
A restaurant rooted in Long Beach history
Castaway’s occupies a site associated with the former Pacific Hotel, constructed around the beginning of the 20th century. The historic Clamshell Railroad once traveled through Long Beach, connecting communities between Ilwaco and Nahcotta.
The restaurant draws on that coastal history while offering a modern and welcoming place for lunch, dinner, cocktails and special gatherings.
Castaway’s accepts private-event inquiries for celebrations, corporate gatherings, luncheons and group dinners. The restaurant is also regularly considered for regional readers’ choice honors in categories such as seafood, clam chowder, fish and chips, burgers, lunch and family dining.
