The following motions are currently being cited on  in Surfside HOA, each addressing important community concerns of members that took the time to write motions benefitting all members. This is a subset of proposed motions for your convinience. Go to the Surfside HOA web site for reading  all the motions.

1. Equal Rights for All Members – This motion advocates that any variance or interpretation of HOA rules granted to one member must be equally applied to all members, ensuring fairness and preventing special treatment based on income, relationships, or other factors.

2. Adopt ElectionBuddy for Electronic Voting – This motion seeks to implement ElectionBuddy, a secure online voting platform, to increase voter participation and enhance election security.

3. Increase Tree Height Limits to 24 Feet – Proposed to improve environmental conditions and flood management, this motion suggests raising the current tree height restrictions in Surfside to enhance the tree canopy and reduce flood risks.

4. Cease Water Fees for Unmetered Lots – A proposal to stop charging lot owners for water services if their property does not have a water meter, addressing concerns of fairness in billing.

5. Hire a DEI Firm – This motion aims to hire a professional DEI firm to ensure inclusive business practices within Surfside HOA, providing equal treatment for all members, including minorities, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, seniors, veterans, and others.

6. Appoint an Independent Ombudsman for Seniors – This motion supports appointing an ombudsman to assist senior residents in navigating HOA covenants and resolving issues.

7. Return Tree Compliance Enforcement to the Compliance Officer – A motion to restore tree compliance enforcement responsibilities to the Compliance Officer, as initially set by the Board of Trustees in 2019.

It’s crucial for every member of the HOA to evaluate these motions based on their own values and priorities. I am not here to tell you how to vote. I urge you to vote as individuals and I respect your choice, making up your own mind about each proposal. Avoid following the group that the board members belong to, as they act as a collective aiming to enforce a single mindset and reject all motions as indicated on their  web site. Your vote is your voice—use it to express your personal opinion and stand for what you truly believe.
